Bobby Reed, 70 of Tell City, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Madisonville, Tennessee on April 20, 2020. Bobby was born in Tell City on January 18, 1950 to William Walter “Chip” Reed and Louise (Powers) Reed. He attended Cannelton High School and married Marsha (Johnson) Reed in February of 1969. He became a towboat pilot, piloting barges on the Ohio River and later worked for the Perry County Sheriff’s Department.
Bobby was such a bright and happy spirit, always smiling and always making everyone else smile. He was incredibly active and loved adventure. He liked hunting, camping, hiking, running, and biking. He loved his family at Everbody’s Gym, where he spent as much time socializing as he did actually working out. The one thing Bobby loved as much as exercise was singing. He was a member of 7th Street Baptist Church in Cannelton, Indiana, where he sang in the choir and on occasion served as song leader. He was known by his karaoke fans as “Bobcat” and would bring down the house with his Bobcat Shuffle and his Willie Nelson renditions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Reed; his brother, William Reed; and his sisters, Beverly Champion, Carolyn Tongate, Rita Lindsey, and Anna Webb.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (husband Michael) Neyenhaus; his son, Robby (wife Tiffany) Reed; his grandchildren, Megan (husband Jake) Roland, Madeline Neyenhaus, and Payton, Kyle, and Derek Reed; his brother, Delbert “Onie” (wife Joan) Reed; and his sisters, Sharon (husband Jeff) Batie and Laurinda “Rindy” (husband Eddie) Fawks.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date due to covid-19 restrictions. Arrangements have been entrusted to funeral director Eric M.D. Bell of Pittsboro, Indiana. All are encouraged to share thoughts and prayers with the family on Bobby's memorial page found on the funeral home's website: www.davidahallmortuary.com
