Donald Ralph Blanton, 85 of Pittsboro, IN, passed away in his home, surrounded by those he loved, on July 28, 2017.
Donald was born March 26, 1932 in Pittsboro to Ralph and Cordis (Jones) Blanton. He was a 1950 Graduate of Pittsboro High School. He married Virginia (Kiger) Blanton on May 28, 1953 a marriage that would last over 64 years until the day of his passing.
He worked for 30 years at the GM Truck and Bus Division in Indianapolis until his retirement. In addition to his work at GM he was a lifelong farmer in Hendricks County.
Donald was an avid fisherman, loved to play euchre, and was a member of the Pittsboro Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Virginia he is survived by his children, Donald “Buddy” (wife Marlene) Blanton, Jr., LuAnn (husband Mark) Taylor, and Gene H. Blanton; sisters, Maxine Wawrzyniak, Jane (husband Harold) Smith, and Betty Wood, and grandson, Christopher (wife Jessica) Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Blanton, and twin infant siblings, Jerry and Janet.
Friends and family will gather from 4 pm until 7 pm, Monday, July 31 in the David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple Street, Pittsboro, IN. Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, August 1 at the Mortuary with Pastor Brock Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Sparks Cemetery.
