Larry R. Riley, 81 of Jamestown, Indiana peacefully passed away on May 9, 2021. Larry was born in Veedersburg, Indiana to Franklin and Vera (Abernathy) Riley. After graduating from high school, Larry faithfully served his country in the United States Army stationed in Hawaii. On July 3, 1964, he married Mary (Benge) Riley, a loving union that would last until her passing in 2016. After his time in the army, Larry earned an associate degree and worked in printing as a compositor journeyman at R.R. Donnelley & Son until his retirement in 1996. He was a man of many trades who used his talents in woodworking, rabbit hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, and working on cars. He also enjoyed collecting knives, listening to music, and watching National Geographic television and Westerns.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Riley; his brothers, Jim Riley and Ronnie Riley; and his sister, Betty Clodfelder. He is survived by his children, Roger Riley, Melissa Whitis, and Carman Riley; his grandchildren, Justin Riley, Meadow Whitis, Levi Remley, and C.J. Stewart; his great-grandchild, Maddox Riley; his brother, Paul Riley; and his sisters, Beverly Vansickle, Sylvia Pritchard, Kay Mann, and Peggie Davis.
Friends and family will gather at New Ross Cemetery on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10 am for a graveside service where Larry will be laid to rest with military honors next to his wife, Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
