Russell Gibbs

January 2, 1955 — March 24, 2020

Russell D. Gibbs, 65 of Lizton, Indiana, peacefully passed away on March 24, 2020 surrounded by those he loved.  Russell was born on January 2, 1955 to Basil and Marjorie (Veatch) Gibbs.  As soon as he was old enough, he joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country.  He then obtained a bachelor’s degree from IUPUI and became an accountant.  In Russell’s spare time, he loved to garden and watch Westerns.

In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Gibbs, as well as his brother, Stanley Gibbs.

Russell is survived by his son, Nick Gibbs; his brothers, Dean (wife Theresa) Gibbs; Roger Gibbs; and Rex Gibbs.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lilly and Sheamus Gibbs, and his beloved dog, Mable.

Friends and family will gather on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the funeral home from 1 pm to 2 pm, with a Celebration of Life with Military Honors at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
