Barbara Ann Deckard, 87 of Brownsburg, was born into eternal life, July 19, 2018, surrounded by her large and loving family.
Barb was born March 10, 1931 in Lafayette, Indiana to Louis Michael and Mary Louise (Metzger) Fassnacht. Barb was a graduate of St. Francis High school in Lafayette, IN. She was a founding member of Newborns in Need. She was a parishioner of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg for over 50 years. She was married to Mansel Deckard, with whom she owned and operated the Brownsburg Culligan Water Conditioning until his passing in 1985. In addition to her work at Culligan with her husband, she did accounting for Wishard Hospital and supported her quilting craft by working at JoAnn Fabrics. She was also proud to be the long time treasurer for her College Avenue Co-Owners Condo Association.
She is survived by her loving children, Mary (husband Rick) Hudon, Brenda (husband James) Hillman, Melissa (husband Brad) Reed, Cindy (husband John) Eaton, Kevin (Peggy Lynn) Deckard, Nancy (husband Brad) Schweibold; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Bresnahan and Walt (Carol) Fassnacht.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mansel Deckard; she was preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth McLaughlin, John "Bill" Fassnacht, Robert "Chub" Fassnacht, William "Shorty" Fassnacht, Joseph Fassnacht, Catherine "Kayte" Butz, Arthur Fassnacht, Marguerite "Myke" Johnson and Mary “Doll” Thomson.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 pm, Monday, July 23, in St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg, 9833 E. Co. Rd. 750. N Brownsburg, IN, with visitation at the church from 10 am until the time of the Mass. She will be laid to rest, next to her husband, in St. Malachy North Cemetery in Brownsburg, Indiana.
It is suggested Memorial gifts be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Malachy Catholic Church.
