Betty Wing, 91 of Danville, Indiana, peacefully passed away on May 28, 2023.
She was born December 23, 1931 in Plymouth, Indiana to Roy Devee McMillen and Edna Marie Bordner. Betty spent her childhood in Lebanon, Indiana. Her parents moved there when she was three months old and that’s where she attend Central Grade School, Lebanon Junior High School and Lebanon Senior High School. She was active in Girl Scouts and was a member of the Junior and Senior Honor Society. She graduated in 1949 and a few months later, on June 4th she married Lawrence Wing.
Marriage took Betty from an active city life to an even busier schedule as a farmer’s wife. The country life of Lizton, Indiana and the surrounding counties agreed with Betty and she was involved in her church and the many activities of her five children.
She enjoyed being creative and expressed her artistic side through oil painting, crocheting, and cutting out wooden Christmas ornaments with a bandsaw (by herself) and then painting them to give away as gifts.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her son Glenn, daughter-in-law Mada, son-in-law Tyrone, granddaughter Vanessa and her only sibling, her sister Beverly Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Roger D. Wing of Danville, Indiana and Larry L. (April) Wing of Spencer, Indiana; two daughters, Diane E. Hartle of Ladoga, Indiana and Sandra S. Cherry of Bolingbrook, Illinois; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service for Betty will be held the following day on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Betty will be laid to rest in Mount Tabor Cemetery following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority in loving memory of Betty.
