Cammie Leigh Kennedy, 59, passed away in Avon, Indiana on October 3, 2024. It is with both sorrow and joy her battle with cancer is over and she is with her beloved mother and father in heaven.
Cammie was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on September 7, 1965. After graduating Shelbyville High School, Cammie moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her best friend Renee Chenevert. After moving back to Indiana, she met Tim Griffith whom she married in February of 1996. The couple had two wonderful children, Chance Griffith, born in 1997 and Tanner Griffith, born in 2002.
Cammie met the love of her life David Kennedy in 2015. As she always said, they were, “Two Peas in a Pod.” In November 2016, David and Cammie were married. A beautiful marriage with just their closest loved ones in attendance, just the way Cammie liked it. Cammie was many things to say the least, but one phrase she loved was being known as the “hostess with the mostest.” and “fun size” making sure everyone was well taken care of first. Other people’s happiness is what brought her the most joy. Her strong love for family and friends was felt by anyone in her presence. She welcomed everyone as her family. She loved being with friends, either sitting at the pool or home cooked dinner, and sharing a glass of Franzia wine. She lived life as a joyous event; Led Zeppelin as her favorite band, a passion for interior design creating spaces that felt like home, a great chef with top of the line cookware so no one was ever hungry and a wonderful, loving and giving mother and wife. She will never be forgotten. Her love will be felt by anyone she has touched throughout her life. She will be remembered by her children Chance and Tanner, as she helped navigate them through life. Previously deceased include mother Susan Jane Lagle, father Jerry Lagle, grandmother Lillian McComas and grandfather Charles McComas. Survivors include husband David Kennedy (step-daughter Brook Lyford and step-grandson Kyson Lyford), son Chance Griffith (Pittsboro, IN), son Tanner Griffith (Pittsboro, IN), uncle Rod and Jayme McComas (Carmel, IN), aunt Judy Carmody (Harrison, OH) and aunt Pat and Jim May (Cota de Caza, CA). A close knit group of friends that Cammie considered family include Norma and Tom Collins, their two boys Cory and Zac, who saw her as a second mother, and a multitude of others that loved her dearly, including Mike McCartney, Rick Ledbetter, Tracy Gallagher, Kim Neff, and Renee Chenevert.
