Catherine Alexander Coy

Catherine Irene Coy, 97, died, November 23, 2023, at Cumberland Trace, Plainfield, Indiana.  She was a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and Pittsboro, Indiana.

She was born November 22, 1926, in Brown Township, Brownsburg, IN.  Her parents were Dora and Raymond Alexander of Pittsboro.  Survivors include two sons, James R. Coy (Delight 2017) of Cloverdale, and Mark D. Coy (Faye) of Speedway; a daughter, Mary Janice Lantz (Jerry) of Indianapolis; a brother Everett Lee Alexander, Avon, Indiana. 8 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a daughter Hannah Jill Coy, Indianapolis, Indiana, and sister Gladys Walton, Coatesville, Indiana, and her parents, Pittsboro, Indiana.

Catherine worked in many occupational areas throughout her life (retail, medical, nanny,) but her greatest joy was her “Coy Home Daycare” of 21 years where she loved and taught many children and most of her grandchildren.

Catherine also completed a degree in Bible Education in early 1980’ & a 3-year program with Faith Bible Institute.

Catherine spent her retired years as a care giver through Senior Companions. She was always a care giver. When you refer to being God’s hands and feet, she was a life example.  Catherine up till most recently was a Bible Teacher at her resident.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, November 27, 2023 in the Open Door Baptist Church, 5360 West 16th Street, Speedway, IN 46224, where friends are invited to gather from 11 am until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest in Bethesda Cemetery in Brownsburg, IN, following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are encouraged to the Open Door Baptist Church.
