Charles "Chuck" Ernest Mohr

October 23, 1942 — April 7, 2025

Jamestown

Charles "Chuck" Mohr, 82 of Jamestown, Indiana, peacefully passed away in his home on April 7, 2025. The following is an obituary written by his loving family.

Charles "Chuck" Ernest Mohr was born on October 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Gerald and Merridean (Clark) Mohr.  He graduated from Lizton High School in the class of 1960. On August 22, 1965, he married Joan (Smith) Mohr, a happy union lasting an incredible 59 years.

Chuck was employed by Eli Lilly and retired early. He spent a year working around the property, building a potting shed, greenhouse and a playhouse for the grandchildren. With that finished, he volunteered with Boone County Habitat for Humanity where he spent 10 years as construction supervisor. He always enjoyed helping families to improve their lives and made many new friends.

When a hurricane hit Louisiana, he traveled with other Habitat workers to help rebuild homes. Then a few years later, he again traveled with Habitat workers to Sri Lanka after a tsunami devastated the people's homes there. That was quite an adventure. He was always ready to help people.

He enjoyed hunting pheasants, and each year traveled with friends and one of his several dogs to hunt.

He loved riding his bicycle and when the boys were young, he would sometimes in the evening put one of the boys in front of him and the other on the seat in the back to go for a short ride with the boys. He also entered several bicycle rides.

Chuck loved woodworking and he and Joan started Mohr Wood N' Things and set up at shows for several years. Later he sold his wood projects at the Sugar Creek Art Center where he also volunteered.

Chuck was a member of Community Fellowship in Jamestown. Through the years he served on several committees for the church. Chuck wanted to use the talents and skills that God had gifted him to help others.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Joan Mohr; his sons, Danny Mohr, Eric (wife Michelle) Mohr, and Greg Mohr; his brother, Jim (wife Marilyn) Mohr; his grandchildren, Austin Mohr, Tyler Mohr, Hannah Brown, Jordan Henry, Damon Mohr, Dakota Mohr, and Desiree Fort; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather for visitation at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, Indiana on Saturday, April 12, 2025, beginning at 10 am, with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 am.  Following the funeral service, Chuck will be laid to rest in K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana.
