Dallas H. Halcomb, 98 of Brownsburg, IN, passed away peacefully September 13, 2019 in his home. He was born on October 16, 1920 in Sprule, Kentucky to Tolman and Isabelle (Cobb) Halcomb. Dallas was happily married to his loving wife, Betty (Hunter) Halcomb, for 33 years. They were married on August 15, 1986.
As a member of the greatest generation, Dallas courageously served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic in the Philippines, living three years in a trench. Following his service to his country he was a talented self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the VFW #1431 and American Legion #72.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his sisters, Nancy Fishburn and Dorothy Snyder: children, Dallas H. (wife Barbara) Halcomb, Jr., Dinah (husband Marc) Gabel, and Daniel T. (wife Rhonda) Halcomb; step-children, Steven (wife Candiss) Vibbert and Donna (husband Douglas) Alexander; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.H., Stanley, Grace and Susan.
Memorial gifts are encouraged to the Indy Honor Flight (Plainfield Division) a program of which he himself was honored to be a participant of only a few years ago.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the David A. Hall Mortuary in Pittsboro, where friends and family will gather from 11am until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors will be in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.
