Darlene Delight Adams Lindley, 92 of Danville, Indiana passed away peacefully, June 29, 2024, in Avon, Indiana. Darlene was born in her home south of Plainfield, Indiana, on August 29, 1931, to Marvin Earl and Mable McCreary Adams. She grew up with her three brothers, Duane, Robert, and Gary Adams, and her sister, Marilyn Rihm. She attended her first two years of grade school at Friendswood School and then attended Plainfield schools, except she attended Pinnell School in Boone County for grades 9 and 10. After graduation, Darlene moved to a farm in Pittsboro, Indiana in 1949. She worked at the glove factory in Lebanon for six months before working at American States Insurance in Indianapolis.
She married Paul Lindley on March 17, 1951. Darlene loved her family and took excellent care of them. She was a loyal wife and was there for her husband at all times. She worked hard to help Paul on the farm. She would drive the tractors and sometimes sprayed the fields after planting. At one time, she even drove the combine shelling corn while Paul hauled it away. She spent many hours caring for her dad and mother before their deaths. In 1977, she bought a Cessna 172 airplane so that Paul could learn to fly. She liked to ride in it, but she didn't want to learn to fly it.
In addition to her parents, Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Paul. She is survived by her sons, Dwight David Lindley and David Joe Lindley; her daughter, Cynthia Kay Lindley Monnett; three grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
A graveside service will be held for Darlene on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 am, in K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana.
Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home of Pittsboro, Indiana. All are encouraged to share thoughts, prayers, and memories with Darlene's family on her memorial page found on the funeral home's website, www.ericmdbell.com .
