Debra Jean Blume (Welch), aged 71, passed away of complication of dementia on October 22, 2024, in Avon, Indiana, where she had been surrounded by loving family and friends. 

Debra was born May 10, 1953, in Lakewood, Ohio, to Paul William Welch and Margret Louise (Dawson) Welch. She graduated from Crown Point High School in 1972 and then went onto Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, where she earned her degree in Social Work. She dedicated two decades to the Marion County Department of Child Services as a Supervisor of the Licensing Unit, followed by working for Paralegal On-Call, assisting with home studies.

Debra was known for her warm and caring nature.  She was a loving wife to Kevin Murray Blume for 40 years (March 10, 1984), a supportive mother to Joshua Paul Blume, and a dear sister to Vicki Hornbostel. She also held a special place in her heart for her two dogs, Lucy and Sophia, who brought her immense joy. Debra's family includes her brothers-in-law, Leon Blume and Chris Hornbostel, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her dearly. 

Debra was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Indianapolis, where she actively participated in community and church activities. Her hobbies included surrounding herself with friends and traveling with the love of her life, Kevin. 

Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Hope Baptist Church, located at 1055 N Girl School Rd, Indianapolis, IN. The celebration of life will commence from 12 pm to 1 pm, followed by services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Debra's memory to Hope Baptist Church or the Indianapolis Humane Society, honoring her love for her church community and animal welfare.
