Don Daily, 85, Avon

Donald “Don” Daily passed away peacefully at Hendricks Regional Danville on October 15, 2021. His daughter Jade and son-in-law Matt Green were by his side. A special thank you to everyone at Hendricks for caring for Don through the years.

Don is survived by his daughter Jade, son-in-law Matt, and four grandsons of Brownsburg: Kaden (15), Brandon and Ryan (5) and Maxwell (2). He is preceded in death by his mother and father Edna and Kermit Daily, and many other Daily family members of Fowler.

Don was born in 1936 in Fowler, Indiana as the first-born son of six siblings. He attended Fowler High School where he enjoyed running track and playing baseball. Don joined the United States Navy in 1954 where he served 20 years, including in Vietnam. He retired in 1973 as a Chief Petty Officer. At age 37, he began a second career as a golf course superintendent. He worked at Benton County Country Club (Fowler), Plainfield Elks (Plainfield), Prestwick Country Club (Avon), Thatcher Golf Course (Speedway), and Country Club of Indianapolis (West Indy).

In retirement he enjoyed reading the newspaper, fishing, gardening, reading fictional novels, yardwork, watching Purdue sports and Colts games, and buying his grandsons and daughter presents and cookies. He always had a gift to give.

He was a good friend to many, a wonderful Father and a giving Grandpa. Jade would like to thank many who were Dad’s friend in his later years of life.

Private Services will be held in the care of Eric MD Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Pittsboro.
