Dorothy Cade, age 95 of Danville, Indiana, passed away of natural causes, April 4, 2025, in Life's Journey Hospice of Avon. The following is an obituary written by her loving family.
Born to Charles (Charlie) and Opal Wilkinson on September 21,1929 in Cabel County, she was a cheerleader for Wayne High School, she loved antiques and working with plants and flowers and was a loving mom to her four children. When Don Cade returned from the war, she married her sweetheart on December 28, 1947.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Teresa (Samuel) Scragg of Boonville, IN; Richard E. (Kathleen) Cade of Richmond, TX; Danny Joe of Londonderry, OH; and Colleen (Frank) David of Danville, IN; her grandchildren, Kimberly Talley of Evansville, IN, Kelly (Scott) Boyd of Newburgh, IN, Richard Joshua Cade of Dallas, TX, Caitlin (Kevin) Butterworth of Celina, TN, Ashleigh (Jonathan) Butler of Coatsville, IN, and Erin (Caleb) Carpenter of Greencastle, IN; her great-grandchildren, Samuel (Jennifer) Talley, Madison Wiese, Richard Szopa, Jonathan Butler, Lisa Butler, Clelan Carpenter, Madeline Boyd, and Poppy Boyd; and her great-great-grandchildren, Katie Talley and Sawyer Talley.
She will be remembered for many qualities and traits by her children and grandchildren, with a strong sense of family and carving out her own path at the top of the list. She instilled these qualities in all four of her children, who are all strong, independent, and talented individuals in their own right, as are their children and grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Maxine, Myrtle, and Charlene (Tim); and beloved granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Cade and Kathleen Theresa Szopa.
