Hilda Maria Patterson, 84 of Pittsboro, IN, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Hilda was born February 2, 1933 in San German, Puerto Rico to Angel L. and Carmen (Oritz) Ramirez de Arellano. She was a graduate of James Monroe High School.
Hilda became a resident of Pittsboro in 1962 when her soon-to-be fiancé, Richard presented her with a newly built home, instead of an engagement ring, to ask for her hand in marriage. Their long and loving marriage would last over 55 years until her passing.
Hilda was a homemaker to her large and loving family, but would also be fondly remembered as a familiar face in the custodial department at Brownsburg Schools and the Indianapolis airport. In addition to her home life and career, she was very active in the Pittsboro community and was the Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her memberships also included The Pythian Sisters, and The Order of the White Shrine.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Patterson; children, Lucia (husband Larry) Montgomery, Hilda Maria (husband Gar) Cooley, and Pedro (wife Carol) Justiniano; 17 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five siblings.
Funeral Services will be 1 pm on Monday, July 24, in the David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple Street, Pittsboro, IN, where friends and family will gather from 11 am, until the time of the service. Inurnment will occur at a later date in the K of P Cemetery, Lizton, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the Patterson family respectfully requests memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society.
