Jackson Lee Andrew Trotter

June 27, 1996 — February 6, 2020

Jackson Lee Andrew Trotter, 23 of Brownsburg, passed away February 6, 2020 in his home.  A celebration will be held at 1pm, Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the funeral home, where friends and family will gather from 11am until the time of the service.

There are three boys:  Jake, JT and Jackson. The boy known to me as Jake (given name Jackson) was born in 1996, and we brought him home and adopted him right from the hospital. He was so fat that he didn’t walk until he was 15 months old. But he talked early, and talked, and talked, and talked.  Everyone was his friend, and he told EVERYONE his name, address, and where his Daddy worked. It became a problem. He started school early, and was an excellent student. Unfortunately, because he was young, he was also small, and struggled to fit in with the other sports-minded students. He did start playing UPWARD basketball though, and he loved everything about it! That’s when he became JT (too many Jakes). JT played UPWARD until he aged out, and then started playing for AJAA (Avon Junior Athletic Association). He stayed JT and played with them through high school until his opiate addiction started interfering and both knees were operated on (with all the pain pills that came along with that). That led to using heroin, and he battled that addiction the rest of his life. Along the way though, he made friends with some amazing people. It was around this time that he became Jackson, and as you can see from the tributes on his Facebook page, he was everyone’s best friend. Any age, any color, any sexual orientation, it didn’t matter to him, you were his best friend and he was as loyal as they come. His goal was always to help you with whatever you needed, whether it was a hug, a late-night talk, or referrals to treatment centers, which he came to know a lot about. When he was in jail, his requests were many…commissary because he was perpetually hungry, updates on other inmates’ court cases on mycase cause they had no money for phones, and please would I text “insert friend’s name here” to make sure they were alright.  Always thinking about getting out and starting over and always thinking about others. He just couldn’t beat the beast that is addiction. He tried his best time after time, but it won in the end. I love my baby boy more than life itself, and he was a momma’s boy right from the start and up to the day he died. But I can’t help but feel like he’s finally at peace and is practicing his free throws in heaven, and that’s a good thing.

He is survived by his mother and father; his sister, Summer and nephew, Bentley; his grandmother, Juanita Trotter; his birth father, Mick Roman; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of funeral director, Eric MD Bell of Pittsboro.  All are encouraged to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
