James E. Ragsdale, 77 of Pittsboro, passed away April 22, 2019.
Jim was born January 3, 1942 in Lebanon, Indiana to Hobart and Velma (Muston) Ragsdale.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force and was a talented Machine Repair Technician at Allison Transmission. He was a member of the Pittsboro Baptist Church and had a passion for classic cars. He especially loved 1937 Packard Automobiles but was also well remembered for his 1951 Rolls Royce which he used to participate in the Pittsboro Fourth of July Parade frequently. In addition to his passion for classic cars he was an avid Philatelist studying and collecting stamps of all varieties.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 56 years, Doris; children, Ed (wife Madella) Ragsdale and Darlene (husband David) Thompson; sister, Diana Ball; and grandchildren, Cody Carpenter Ragsdale and Christopher Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and John Ragsdale.
Memorial gifts are encouraged to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Friday, April 26, 2019 in the David A. Hall Mortuary in Pittsboro, where friends and family will gather from 11am until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors will be in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton. Arrangements are entrusted to Funeral Director, Eric MD Bell.
