Jane Elizabeth Koskey

May 20, 1938 — August 6, 2022

Danville, Indiana

Jane Elizabeth Koskey, 84 of Danville, Indiana, peacefully passed away in her home on August 6, 2022.  Below are memories written by her loving family.

Jane was born on May 20, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Howard and Mary (Miller) Fessler.  She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1956, and she married the love of her life, Gene Koskey, just one year later on June 29, 1957.  While raising their five children, Robert Koskey, David Koskey, Dennis Koskey, Jonathan Koskey, and Jennifer (Koskey) Jones, they continued to live in Indianapolis until moving to Brownsburg, where they resided for 33 years.  In their later years, they lived in Pittsboro before moving to Danville in 2020 to live with their daughter and her husband.

Jane was beautiful inside and out!  She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker all her life.  She managed it all like a tight ship!  She kissed our scrapes and bruises, but also taught us how to be tough, grateful, and genuine.

After being a stay-at-home mom, Jane finally got her driver’s license and began driving at the age of 55.  She started working at Calvary United Methodist Church Learning Academy in 1998 at the age of 60.  She truly loved the children she taught, and she made good friends with her co-workers.  She was so proud of working there for 14 years.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flower gardening, camping with the family, reading, and playing cards, especially Euchre.  She really adored hummingbirds, taking special interest in maintaining her hummingbird feeder and watching them.  She was a religious woman with a lot of faith who enjoyed attending church when she was able.  Jane also loved listening to music and had a crush on Neil Diamond.

Jane was, very much, a social butterfly and talker. Her “friends list” is long, but she always loved spending time with all of them. She was full of so much love and she is very loved!  We all will miss you very much Mom/Jane Elizabeth Koskey!

Jane is preceded in death by her twin sister, Sara Frances (Fessler) Rogers; her oldest son, Robert Koskey; and her beloved husband, Gene Koskey.

She has seven grandchildren, Melanie, Julie, Lucas, Matthew, Mary, Jared, and Allison; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brandon, Alyssa, Michael, Jeremiah, Aaron, Rhett, Everett, and Elsie.

Friends and family will gather at Pittsboro United Methodist Church on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 12 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm.  Following the service, Jane will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Gene, in Sparks Cemetery in Pittsboro, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pittsboro United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, Indiana.  All are encouraged to share thoughts, prayers, and memories with Jane's family on her memorial page found on the funeral home's website, www.ericmdbellfuneralhome.com .
