Janet A. Groover

Janet A. Groover, age 92, of Indianapolis, formerly of Pittsboro, IN passed away August 7, 2018.

Janet was born in Korea to Missionary parents on April 29th, 1926. She graduated in 1937 from Brecksville, Ohio and received her college degree in nursing from the University of Rochester in New York, she also earned her master’s degree from Columbia University. She married Robert L. Groover on January 22, 1966 in Brecksville, Ohio.

Janet was the mental health nurse-consultant for the Indiana State Board of Health. In addition to her professional career she created the Bearing Love Ministry for giving teddy bears and caring to hospice cancer patients and was Instrumental in creating the carrying of stuffed animals in police and fire depts to sooth frightened or bereaved children.

Survivors include her daughters, Diana Youngman, Kay Ann Groover; 5 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. Groover.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Pittsboro United Methodist Church. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 14 at 11 a.m. in the Church. Interment will follow at Sparks Cemetery, Pittsboro, Indiana.

Memorial gifts have been suggested to the Pittsboro United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
