Joseph "Joey" Ray Burt

February 4, 1989 — September 14, 2019

Joseph "Joey" Ray Burt – aged 30 of Brownsburg, Indiana passed unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14 due to complications with cancer.

The funeral service will be held at David A. Hall Mortuary at 7 PM, September 19. Reverend Gray Lesesne of Good Samaritan's Episcopal Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm same location. It is requested that you wear colorful clothing or sports Jerseys.

Joey was born on February 4, 1989, to Susan and Joe Burt. He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 2007.  He was never a downer, he laughed, loved and lived. He was a very avid lover of sports be it football, baseball, and basketball, he didn't care if it was live or a rerun he would watch it. He loved spending time with friends and family and was never one to shy away from helping someone out. Joey had a gigantic heart and was never afraid to hug a complete stranger.

Everybody knew Joey as the amazing hugger. Joey was a bright light in a sometimes dim world.  His smile could light up the day, and his hugs were the greatest hugs in the history of the world.  When Joey put his arms around you and squeezed, you felt enveloped with love.  He liked everyone, and was a source of constant optimism, just like his mother.  Life simply will not be the same without him.

Joey had one fashion sense and that was jerseys. He held jerseys of several different sports teams, most notably his cubbies. Go Cubs Go!

One of the last things he got to do was go to a Cubs game in Wrigley Field, thanks to Ronald.

The last several months of his life was a struggle, Joey was a fighter, and he kept fighting no matter the cost. There was no feat he would not take on.

He is preceded in death by his uncles Jon, and Shawn, paternal grandfather William Burt, grandma Scott, great-grandmother Inez, and maternal grandparents "Gawmy and Papaw."

He is survived by his Mother, Susan, Father, Joe younger siblings brother Jacob and sister Leita, and nephew Anthony. Brothers and sisters from other mothers. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. He will be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers the family please asks to help in any possible, there is a gofund me page set up if you would like to donate or share.

Arrangements are entrusted to the the care of Funeral Director, Eric Bell. All are encouraged to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
