Karen Sue Kisner Hardman

August 12, 1957 — December 15, 2024

North Salem, Indiana

Karen Sue Kisner Hardman, 67 of North Salem, IN, passed away with her beloved family at her side on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Karen was born on August 12, 1957, to Rudolph Gene Kisner and Ruby Marcella (Tinie) Courtney Kisner. She was married to Richard Lee Hardman on July 27th, 1996.

Karen demonstrated exceptional love, care, and dedication to her fur-babies and cherished family members, Dalphie, Dog, Sissy, Oliver, and Gracie; going above and beyond to give them the best life. She spoiled everyone’s animals. If she knew you then she knew your fur-baby’s birthday and had gifts for all of them.

Karen worked as a nanny for Garnet Harris and John Baenziger and their four children, Sarah, Peter, Anne, and Whitney.

Whitney remembered she was a playmate, a teammate, a wicked rummy player and a source of unending joy and love to the whole Baenziger/Harris family. She was not just a nanny, she was family.

Karen retired from Hendricks Regional Health in August 2022, as a surgical janitor. She was passionate about everything she did in life and formed many life-long friendships along the way.

She made the most of her Dash. She was loyal, kind, courageous, giving, hardworking, loving and present. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards with her mother and going on out-of-state fishing trips with her husband. She didn’t know a stranger. To know her was to love her. She was steadfast and unwavering, a woman of her word, and true to her values.

In addition to her husband, Richard Lee Hardman, Karen is survived by her mother, Ruby Marcella (Tinie) Courtney Kinser; brother, Kevin Gene (Tammy) Kisner; many sisters and brothers-in-law; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, pets and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Gene Kisner; sister, Carrie Alta (husband Dallas) Trump; and grandparents, Carl and Mable Russell, and Juanita Courtney.

Karen’s generosity knew no bounds. She was not only generous in life, but also in death as an organ donor.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, December 20, 2024, in Eric MD Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, where friends and family are invited to gather with the family from 12 pm until the time of the service. Following the funeral, she will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, North Salem, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to The Hendricks County Animal Shelter.
