Karen Sue Pittman, 71 of Indianapolis, passed away on February 25, 2025. The following is an obituary written by her loving family.
Karen was a very high-spirited, loving, and caring person who absolutely loved to have fun, whether it was meeting up with family to go to Kings Island for the wave pool when her children were little or having the whole family over for a pool party at home. Without a doubt, though, one of her favorite fun activities was to meet up with her partners in crime to play euchre. Karen was in a euchre club for many years, and would meet up with Joyce, Janie, and Judy to school on how to play Big Joker. She'd refuse to come home, laughing because she would win a whole $2.60.
When Karen was little, she got thrown into motherhood kind of fast. Her own mother was a single parent who had to work most of the time, having two jobs. She had to leave Karen at home to care for her three younger brothers. Karen then got married at a young age and went on to care for her own two children, and then her sister when she became ill. Karen was always the first to jump up and do whatever she could to help and show she cared.
Karen loved her grandkids as much as she loved life itself. Jamison Tylerr and Shelbie were her sunshine. She would light up and cry when they'd come to visit her towards the end of her life. When they were little and into their teenage years/young adulthood, Karen didn't want to miss any of their activities they were involved in. She was a caregiver by trade, and that's what she did her entire life, working in home healthcare in her later life. She truly enjoyed it, and she thought of the women she took care of as family.
Karen is survived by her son, Kevin Pittman, and her grandchildren, Jamison Tylerr and Shelbie.
She will be greatly missed each and every day, but her spirit will live on.
