Larry Canada

February 10, 1948 — January 5, 2022

Pittsboro, Indiana

Larry Canada, 73 of Pittsboro, Indiana passed away peacefully, January 5, 2022 with his loving family by his side.  Below is a life story written by his family.

Larry Canada (2/10/48 - 1/5/22)

One of Larry's rituals each morning was reading the newspaper.  He turned to the obituaries first and truly enjoyed reading about the many lifelong achievements of those who had passed. We believe this gave him the drive and inspiration to ensure that his life story was a worthwhile read. Here is his story.

Larry held many titles during his life, but there are three that meant the most to him. Larry, or “Babe” as his wife Bobbi often called him, enjoyed 53 wonderful years of wedded bliss with Bobbi. His sons, Zach (Kelly) and Jud (Emily) proudly called him “Dad”, and Larry was always bursting with pride as they grew up to become fine young men and fathers. One of the greatest joys of his life was being called “Papaw Larry” by Nolan (18), Regan (16), Chloe (12), Luke (11), Kip (11), and Libby (6).  Larry was blessed to see them all begin their school careers, allowing him to take on his favorite job, personal bus driver. Each morning and afternoon, he was fortunate enough to drive the kids to school, and pick them up, creating some of the most precious memories and conversations. Larry was so proud of his grandchildren and their many academic and athletic accomplishments. The pride and love he had for his family was impossible to deny whenever Larry had the chance to speak about them - that contagious smile would spread easily across his face as he shared a recent story.

Larry grew up in the small town of Bainbridge, IN. It was there that his never-ending circle of friends began. He, his friends, and his brother, Gary, spent time riding their bikes around town, playing sports together, and learning life lessons along the way. Among the sports that Larry played, was the second love of his life, basketball. While it remained at the forefront of his life for many years, his greatest personal highlight was when the Bainbridge Pointers reached Semi-State in 1966. After graduating from Indiana University, he worked multiple jobs in the medical field before he took a leap of faith and became a successful entrepreneur. After his sons graduated high school, Larry and Bobbi spent time traveling. For several years they followed the NASCAR circuit in their motorhome, visiting sunny spots across the US, and for five winters, they settled in Texas to enjoy time with family and friends.  Over the past several years Larry and Bobbi once again embraced their love of basketball and have closely followed the Butler University Men’s Basketball Team. Through their travels, they have made many great friends and fond memories.

Larry’s crowning professional achievement was starting his own business, Healthcare Products Delivery. For the better part of the last 25 years, his two sons worked alongside him to build and grow a successful company. Larry was equally proud of all the wonderful individuals they have employed over the years that make up the HPD family.

Larry’s success allowed him to live a life centered around his generous spirit, changing the lives of so many people around him. This was his legacy, and it will continue to live on through his family and those that knew him best.

The family is planning a celebration of life that will be announced in the Spring.
