Larry Edward Smith

August 4, 1945 — March 8, 2024

Brownsburg, Indiana

Larry Edward Smith (78) of Brownsburg passed away after a brief battle with aggressive brain cancer on March 8, 2024 in his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Jamestown surrounded by family. Larry, known as Pops to many, had the warmest smile that made everyone feel welcome.

Larry was born in Connersville, Indiana. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Doris Smith. He is survived by his beloved bride of 60 wonderful and fun-filled years, Evie (Evelyn) Smith, his sister (spouse) Phyllis Smith (Richard), his daughter Lori Kaiser (Chris), son Brent Smith (Tina), his grandchildren Brad Harvey (Alyssa), Katie Brownlee (Collin), Aaliyah, Alex, Adam, Adriana, and his great-grandchildren Jayden, Austin, and Skylynn Harvey.

Larry started his career right out of high school painting with his dad’s family business, Smith Brothers’ Painting, and later drove an eighteen-wheeler across the country with the nickname “Road Hog.” He loved his work and retired as an agent after 28+ years with Farm Bureau Insurance, as he jokingly called the FBI, where he built countless friendships among colleagues and clients. Larry was an avid golfer and member of the West Chase Men’s Golf League for many years.

On January 4, 1964 he married the love of his life, Evelyn (Clem) Smith. They spent countless adventures during their 60 years of marriage. As a husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend, Larry touched many lives. His legacy left this world a better place and his warmth will continue to live within his family and friends where they will spread his kindness forward.

Larry’s request was for no funeral or memorial service to be held. A celebration of life will soon be announced.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Eric MD Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services, all are encouraged to keep the Smith family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
