Loren Junior “Bud” Riddle

March 7, 1935 — February 14, 2025

Danville, Indiana

Loren Junior “Bud” Riddle went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2025. The following is an obituary written by his loving family.

On February 14th, 2025, Heaven rejoiced when Loren Junior Riddle (89) went home to be with the Lord. He spent his last Valentine’s Day with his two great loves. He is survived by his loving wife of 69-years, Hazel (English) Riddle.

Bud (Grandpa) was born on March 7, 1935, in Raccoon, IN to Claude Loren and Vernie (Wall) Riddle. His six sisters (Gladys, Alice, Ruby, Ruth, Anna Mae, and Jeannie) and three brothers (Charlie, Mike, and Gene), a daughter, Kim (Curt) Caplinger, one grandson, and one great-grandson preceded him in death.

Additional survivors include Danita (Bob) Neal, Brad (Cherrie) Riddle, Marcie (Joe) Taylor, Craig (Susan) Riddle, 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. A brother, Berlie Riddle, also survives.

Bud was a simple, gentle man who lived to serve and whose life’s purpose was to introduce others to His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He accepted Christ at the age of 9-years old. He lived in Maplewood, IN since 1958. He was a carpenter by trade and owned Riddle’s Custom Cabinets. He attended Pittsboro Baptist Church for over 65-years, where he served as a deacon and a member of Gideon’s International for over 50-years. He enjoyed walks in the woods where he enjoyed observing God’s creative handiwork.

Bud was a small man who walked humbly before the Lord, but he left the footprints of a giant on the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Pittsboro Baptist Church, from 11 am to 1 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm.  Bud will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Danville South Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pittsboro Baptist Church in Pittsboro, Indiana or The Gathering Together in Plainfield, Indiana.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Pittsboro.

All are encouraged to share thoughts, prayers, and memories with Bud’s family on his memorial page found on the funeral home’s website, www.ericmdbelll.com.
