Margaret Anne (Johnson) Curtis “JoJo”
August 16, 1950 - November 22, 2023
Margaret passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the age of 73.
Mom. Sister. Grandmother. Daughter. Friend.
Margaret was a child of the 60’s…She was a Beatles and 60’s music fan, free spirit, and activist. She loved her children and granddaughter dearly and supported them unconditionally. Margaret was always a call or text away and would be there for anyone. She started her career as an amazing Blood Banker at Community East Hospital where she worked for 25 years. After transitioning into the IT/Telecom world, she worked for Ameritech and then AT&T, retiring from project management in 2019 after another 24 years of hard work.
She was a true lover of her coffee, her cats, spending time with family, ranting about the stupid news, and watching the latest shows on Netflix. Her favorites were all of the old Godzilla movies, forensic shows, and zombie flicks. Margaret was lovingly known as Jojo after the birth of her granddaughter, Aly, with whom she shared her love for crafting, creating flower arrangements and macrame, and shopping for shoes. In her retired years she travelled often for “shenanigans and sketchy stuff” with all of her girls.
Jojo with be painfully missed by all, as she departed this life very abruptly.
Survived by her mother, Mary (Lawson) Kinder; daughters, Lesa Ann (Amsler) Nelson, Anastasia Nicole Curtis, and Tatiana Nicole (Curtis) Nasierowski; granddaughter, Alyssa Anne Nelson; grandsons, Trey and Levi Evers; brother, Robert Johnson; niece, Alana Johnson; and sons-in-law, Bradley M. Poreda and Mark S. Nelson; as well as grand and great-grand pups: Teddy, Derby, Dash, Duke, and Thor.
Preceded in death by grandmother, Stella Marie Lawson; father, James McKinley Johnson; and brother, Larry McKinley Johnson.
