Marie Eleanor (Chezem) Curts, 92, of Pittsboro, was born in a farmhouse north of Bellmore, IN, on January 17th, 1932. Sadly, she passed away in Avon, IN, on September 8th, 2024. She was the ninth of thirteen children born to Ralph Alexander Chezem and Mary Delores (Wallace) Chezem.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her infant twin, Mary Lenora; an infant daughter, Linda; as well as her husband of sixty-eight years, Harold Wayne; and siblings, Mildred (Sis), George, Ralph Jr., Jeanette, Barbara, Byron (Frank), Jack, Mary and Dick. She is survived by sisters, Shirley Moss and Sue Schaibley; three children, Sandra (Larry), Nancy (George), and her son Wayne, who devoted his life to her; two grandchildren, Linde (Scott) and Brad (Amanda); and four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Emily, Renee, and Alexander who were her pride and joy!
Marie loved garage sales, stopping for nearly every one she spotted. She also enjoyed reading, especially cookbooks, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, harvesting persimmons, and cooking. Her mother was an excellent cook for her huge family and Marie followed suit. Any covered dish Marie brought to a family pitch-in had everyone flocking to get a share before it was gone. Her love endured, through a life well lived.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home of Pittsboro, Indiana. Marie's life will be celebrated privately by her loved ones. All are encouraged to keep Marie's family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
