Martha “Louise” Porter

April 3, 1926 — February 16, 2023

Brownsburg, Indiana

The following is an obituary written by the loving family.

Martha “Louise” Porter, 96 of Brownsburg, Indiana, peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on February 16, 2023.  Louise was born on April 3, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Oral and Donius (Hill) Cox.  She graduated from Amo High School in 1944.  On August 28, 1944, she married Loris William “Bill” Porter, a loving union that would last 72 years.  Louise retired from Allison in 1991 where she worked in Purchasing as an Expediter.  “Weezy,” as family and classmates called her, enjoyed music and loved to square dance (Bill often called the dances), attended many auctions seeking out beautiful antiques and quilts, was always up for a good game of euchre or an evening playing the slots.  She also enjoyed tending her flower gardens and treasured many pets and stray animals over the years.   Weezy was a resilient woman that was quick to tell you she had sent a husband off to two wars (WWII and the Korean War) and raised four strong children so yes, she understood patience and truly treasured life.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Bill, Louise is preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Cox and Norman Cox; and great-grandson, Colter Weatherford.

She is survived by sons, Charlie Porter and Walt Porter; daughters, Billie Jo Weatherford and Terry Porter; grandsons, Jeffery Weatherford and Jason (Ryann) Weatherford; and great-grandson, Porter Weatherford.

Friends and family will be honoring Louise’s life with a private service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Creekside Animal Rescue, Rochdale, IN or Oinking Acres Farm Rescue, Brownsburg, IN, in loving memory of Louise.

All are encouraged to share thoughts, prayers, and memories with Louise’s family on her memorial page found on the funeral home's website, www.ericmdbellfuneralhome.com .
