Mildred E. Rawlings

Mildred Elizabeth Rawlings, 87 of Danville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Danville.

Mildred was born October 6, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN.  She was the youngest of three sisters who were raised in Lizton, Indiana by their foster-mother, Elizabeth Leach. Her family attended the Lizton Christian Church together.

Mildred was a 1949 graduate of Lizton, High School and then attended Indiana Business College.

On May 14, 1950 Mildred married her childhood sweetheart, Warren Gordon Rawlings, a union that would last over 68 years until her passing. She worked for Citizens Nations and Meridian Mutual Insurance Companies.

In 1992, Mildred volunteered her time and creativity at the Baptist Retreat Mission in Texas, while her husband Warren was the assistant manager there. They then traveled together to Florida to lend a hand, and ended their volunteering together back home in Indiana with nine additional years of service at the Turkey Run and Lieber State Parks. Mildred Loved all sorts of crafts, flowers, and all of God’s beautiful things.

In addition to her loving husband, Warren G. Rawlings; survivors include her children, Douglas (wife Kim) Rawlings, Daniel (wife Cheryl) Rawlings, Bradford Rawlings, and Linda Kirby; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Elizabeth Leach; sisters, Edith Linton and Loretta Land, and daughter, Sheila Rawlings Elliott.

The Rawlings family wishes to express deep appreciation for the care they were shown by the staff of Danville Regional Rehabilitation.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Monday, October 15 in the David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, where friends and family will gather from 11 am until the time of the Funeral. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery.
