Nate Merritt

April 10, 1997 — April 2, 2025

Danville, Indiana

Nathan "Nate" Merritt, 27 of Danville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, April 2, 2025, in Danville, Indiana. The following is an obituary written by his loving family.

Nathan was a literal ray from the sun. You knew Nate was there because the room always lit up when he walked in. If Nate had bad days, you never knew it because he always had a smile on his face, or a joke to make someone else's bad day better. Nathan absolutely adored being a father to Tatum, and Tatum is his mini in all aspects. Nate loved his family above all else, and if you got the chance to be a friend of his, you know fully well you were his family then, too. He always checked in, wanted to hang out, and if needed would give the shirt right off his back. He would drop everything to be there for anyone in need.

Nate was the "biggest" wrestling fan. He knew everything about it, knew who everyone was, and wanted everyone who came into his life to love it as much as him! He loved sports, especially his Colts, Cubs, and anything to do with his niece's little league. You will forever be missed, Nathan Ryan, be forever loved by every single one of us.

Nate was preceded in death by his father, Philip Merritt; his stepfather, John Halloran; his grandmothers, Peggy Grant and Bonnie Brown; his grandfather, Dennis Merritt; and his aunt, Bonnie Merritt.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Merritt; son, Tatum Merritt; step-son, Wesley Burdine; mother, Bonnie Halloran; sister, Emily (Alec) Cummings; niece, Braylee Cummings; nephew, Christopher Cummings; niece, Skyler Cummings; grandpa (or pa), Jim Brown; grandma, Teresa Merritt; aunt, Carol Huber; uncle, Scott Brown; uncle and aunt, Scott and Kristlyn Merritt; uncle and aunt, Nicholas and Jenifer Church; aunt and uncle, Beth and Jared Duncan; aunt and uncle, Nicole and Kenny Peel; grandpa, Dave Grant; and an amazing amount of cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Friday, April 11, 2025, in West Bridge Church, 1521 S County Road 75 W, Danville, IN 46122, where friends are invited to gather with the family from 11 am until the time of the funeral. He will be laid to rest in New Winchester Cemetery following the funeral service.

All are encouraged to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly hard and tragic time.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Eric MD Bell Funeral Home of Pittsboro, IN.

Memorial gifts are suggested to the Merritt Family for the support and ongoing care of Nate's son, Tatum. Envelopes will be available during the service and gathering time at the church, and a bank account will be established shortly for contributions.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
