Phil "Big Tuck" Tucker, 56 of Pittsboro, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2018.
Phillip Tucker was born on July 24, 1962 in Lebanon, Indiana to Marvin and Barbara Tucker. Phil was raised in Pittsboro and was shown the example of community spirit and involvement from an early age, as he worked in the family business, Tucker’s Corner. Phil was a 1981 graduate of Tri-West High School where he is fondly remembered as a true “Football Star.” Following his graduation from Tri-West, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1985.
A lifelong entrepreneur with an unparalleled work ethic, Phil had owned and operated Tucker Salt & Water Express, Inc. and was most fondly remembered for his landmark Pittsboro store, Big Tuck’s, a popular and well-loved part of the community. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Phil served his community as a crossing guard and school bus driver.
Phil was a passionate Christian, who belonged to the Church on the Rock Baptist Church of Brownsburg. Phil lived his faith daily, with a kindness and genuine love of his fellow man. Always with a smile and joy in his heart he was a kind shoulder to lean on during difficult times, a sage purveyor of advice, but utmost a source of compassion for countless lives.
Phil’s greatest joy was family. On November 26, 1999 he married the love of his life, Judy (Wyatt) Tucker. Together they would endeavor on many life adventures and work alongside one another at Big Tuck’s, becoming a part of the fabric of the community.
Phil was a Football Star, Soldier, Christian, Husband, Father, and Friend. He was a man amongst men, who embodied community pride, a passion for life, and a work ethic unparalleled. He will leave a large and significant legacy and will be missed deeply by countless friends and family.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Phil is survived by brothers, Dan (wife Rhonda) and Darrell (wife Sherri) Tucker; son, Rick (wife Amanda) Hoole; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marla Flowers.
Friends and Family are invited to gather together from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in the David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro.
In accordance with family wishes, Funeral Services with Military Honors will be private. He will be laid to rest in Sparks Cemetery.
