Richard Lee Foley, 75 of North Salem, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, August 9, 2024, in Goshen, Indiana. The following is an obituary written by his loving wife, Donna.
Richard Lee Foley was born on December 31, 1948. His parents were Richard Carlyle Foley and Katherine Castella Grantham. He had six sisters, Virginia Elder, Carolyn Tedrow, Joyce McClure, Margie Le Suer, Vickie Foley, and Ellie Brown. He went to school at Roachdale and Ladoga Elementary. He graduated from Ladoga High School in 1968. He was drafted into the army in 1969 and got out in 1970. He was severely injured in Vietnam. We met in May or June of 1971. We later got married on October 23, 1971. We had four children, Amy (fiancé Patrick Holtzclaw), Brandon, Crystal, and Dustin (wife Jenna). Our second son passed away at birth. We have eight living grandkids and one deceased, Elizabeth, Jesse, Braden, Kayla, Dakota, Zia, Edjerrin, Avenaya, Trinity, Kendra, and Haylee. We also have a great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose Yates. He was a member of the Roachdale Baptist Church. He loved to mow and help people around town. He loved his family and loved to tell dad jokes. He loved musical instruments such as harmonica, organ, and guitar. He loved bluegrass, country, and gospel music.
Friends and family will gather for visitation on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home from 4 pm to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held the following day, August 17, 2024, at 10 am in the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest with military honors in Fairview Cemetery in North Salem, Indiana following the service.
