Robert John Reynolds

The following is an obituary written by Robert's loving family.

Robert John Renolds, 86 of Charlotte, Iowa; passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday May 14, 2023.  He was born November 15, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa to John and Rita (Kane) Reynolds.

He is survived by his son John Reynolds and his wife Betsy of Danville, IN and their children, Oliver Kane, Olin Jack, and Linnea Noelle; his daughter Amy Hadley and her husband Clay of Whiteland, IN and their children, Madeline Elizabeth and Preston.  A sister, Patricia (Reynolds) Peterson of Vista, California and her children.  Brother-in-law Thomas Brugman and current wife Mary of Oro Valley AZ and his children, Kellen Brugman, John Brugman, and Katie Cunningham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Marianne (Dink) Brugman (Reynolds) and Debbie (DR) (Prune) Reynolds.

Robert John Reynolds would tell you "the way it is."  However, allow me to tell you "the way he was" he was known to some as "Fox" or "the Professional" by his friends.  He was a very proud AA member of his 26 years of sobriety and he would say "Get sober or die!"  Furthermore, he was a lover of big band music where he enlisted in the military playing in the United States Army band as a trumpet player.  After his years of military service, he played taps at various funerals of previous veterans.  His thoughtfulness was received by those who were sick, struggling, or lonely.  Finally, the highlight of his life was his five grandchildren where he never failed to call or send a card for a holiday or birthday.  He always said, "I love them all the same."

Love or hate him, inside he was very kind spirited and will be missed by those who appreciated him.

A visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2023 followed by a Funeral Mass which will be held at the Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte, IA.  Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery.  Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Pittsboro, IN is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
