Ronald Wayne Gibbons

Ronald Wayne Gibbons, 70 of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home, January 10, 2019.

Ron was born January 16, 1948 in Lebanon, Indiana to Donald Eugene and Lois Anne (Propst) Gibbons. He was a 1966 graduate of Pittsboro High School and served his country in the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He was instrumental in the effort to reconstruct Germany, where his talents as a Mason were utilized. Following his service, he continued to work as a mason. He also worked for Hoosier Village as a Security Guard, Goodyear Racing, and was a truck driver.

He was passionate about sports, working Seek and Find Books, and was an avid golfer. He truly loved racing, especially NASCAR.

Ron married Becky Sue (Guthrie) on January 17, 1978 in the middle of “the Great Blizzard of ‘78” a union that would last nearly 41 years until his passing.

In addition to his loving wife, Becky; he is survived by children, Sean Richman and Sonja Hamner; siblings, Kim Aiduks and Vicki (husband John) Testerman and; grandchildren, Amber Alexander, Nicholas Hamner, and Anthony Richman; and great-grandchildren, Akyra and Tre Alexander.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gibbons.

Friends and family will gather from 4 pm until 7 pm, Monday, January 14 in the David A. Hall Mortuary, of Pittsboro, IN, where Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, January 15. Pastors Donna Herring and Deb Strock-Kuss will be officiating.   He will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, at the KofP Cemetery in Lizton, IN.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial gifts be made to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority or the Wounded Warrior Project,  envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
