Brownsburg, Indiana

Ronald E. Wagner, 88, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family and Hailey, his cat. He was born February 6, 1936 in Sandborn, Indiana and played football at Linton-Stockton High School. He met the love of his life, Mary Jane, in Jasper, Indiana at a dance hall. Their favorite dance was the jitterbug.  He was the proud father of four children: Marcus, Michelle L. Wagner-Escobar(Fernando); Martin E. Wagner (Denise) and Marla J. Holbrook(Joseph), and his six grandchildren: Nicholas, Gabriel, Samantha, Allison, Cassandra and Amanda. He is also survived by his stepsisters, Carla Wagner and Lynne Donoho (Mike) and stepbrother, Greg Banicki (Marsha).

Ron was a Korean Veteran with the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was the primary crane operator when his unit put up the first American Flagpole visible to North Korea from the DMZ.  He enjoyed his life managing and selling shoes for Kinney Shoes in stores all around Indianapolis. In retirement, he enjoyed eating out for lunch daily with his family.  His joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He retired as an auditor for the Woolworth Company, the parent company of Kinney Shoes.

Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane; son, Marcus; brother, James; father and stepmother, Carl and Frances Wagner; mother and stepfather, Lois Fry and Oliver Hayek.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am, Friday, April, 26th, in the Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home, where friends are invited to gather with the family from 10 am until the time of the service. Military Honors will be rendered at the Funeral Home following the Celebration of Life.

He will be laid to rest privately with his wife, in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery, in Madison, IN
