Ruth Honeycutt- Blackburn 51, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away May 26, 2020, after a lengthy battle with Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. Her loving family was by her side.
Ruth was born October 4, 1968 in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She became a mom at the young age of 19 with the birth of her son, Aaron. She fell in love with being a mom and later adopted Jordan as an infant in 2005. That was just the beginning of raising children for Ruth. Through the process of adoption, Ruth became involved in foster care. For the last 15 years, she helped foster over 250 children. Ruth also formed a non-profit organization in Brownsburg called Jordan's Place that has assisted over 600 foster families with necessities. Ruth's big heart has made a huge impact on her community.
Ruth loved spending time with her children and watching them become strong, independent, and compassionate individuals. Ruth greatly enjoyed photography where she captured still photos of nature in motion and saw life in a new way. She was a long-time member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and the Birding of Indiana Group.
In addition to her children, Aaron (Fiancé Heather) and Jordan, survivors include the love of her life, Steve Owens; her mom of the heart, Ostella Honeycutt-Abner; grandchildren, Avery, Sawyer, and Lilah; and many close friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 11 am until 1pm, Saturday, May 30, 2020 in the Eric MD Bell Funeral Home, 220 N. Maple Street Pittsboro. Following the time of gathering, a Celebration of Ruth’s remarkable life will be held at 1pm also in the funeral home.
