Vicki Jo Spencer was born February 14, 1957 to Jackie Wilson Bell and Carolyn Jayne Bell in Logansport, Indiana. Her younger years can be recalled in the presence of Christ-centered grandparents. Vicki was the eldest of two more Bell daughters, Jackie Lee and Kimberly Kay, born 1959 and 1962, respectively. Vicki was raised in the Cass county community and grew a fervent love for horses over her childhood.
Eight years after her graduation from Logansport High School in 1975, she welcomed her son, Christopher Joe Jackson, born 1982. As a mother, she instilled the family value of “service before self” to her son. This foundation of selflessness inspired his career spent in the uniform services and is a guiding principle in how he and his wife, Kylie Elizabeth Reed Jackson, raise Vicki’s grandchildren, Harper Elizabeth, born 2016, and Leland Christopher, born 2018.
Vicki married her husband, Gary Allen Spencer, on April 16, 1994. Their life has been decorated with travels and exploits since their union. However, their greatest adventure has been in journey with the Lord. Vicki and Gary were baptized in 2016 and since that time, have lived their lives with Jesus Christ as their centerpiece and inspiration.
Vicki’s equestrian endeavors were rekindled in her 40’s. She pursued barrel racing with vigor and was crowned with district titles into her 50’s. Her father instilled a love of fishing throughout her life. She took that love and developed a personal passion for fly fishing and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc., a nonprofit organization that focuses on healing veterans through the art of fly fishing. Recently, Vicki grew a love for pickleball and the local pickleball community at her church.
Vicki epitomized service not only in her personal life, but professionalized her desire to positively impact others. In 1996, she finished her collegiate endeavors and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued to aid others until her unexpected passing on Tuesday July 7, 2020.
Vicki’s departure leaves an unfillable void in the lives she touched. But in her passing, it is recognized that her legacy of service and love will continue on in each of those that lived in her exuberant spirit-filled light.
Two memorial events will be provided for Vicki. Details are listed below.
Vicki’s family has asked that donations to her favorite charity, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc., were considered before floral arrangements. Donations to the organization need to be noted for the “Indianapolis Program.” A text block for this note is provided on the donation page.
