Below are fond memories put together by Walter's loving family.

Each of you was special to him in one way or another, and we want to thank you for being here today. A friend of his used these words to me just last week…..”Walter an end of an era”……so true. There will never be another one like him! He could get away with things no one else could.

Walter had many passions in life, he had a passion for his family, ensuring we were always well taken care of.

He had a passion for mentoring people in his life’s path from gardening to construction.

He was the most hard-working and determined man most of us knew; his famous quote was “I’m going to work until I die.” Well as you see he kept his word on that!

Other passions were hunting, golf, gambling, fishing, football, basketball, cooking, making homemade blue cheese dressing, extra hot cocktail sauce, eating seafood, chocolate, sweets and at “hole in the wall” family diners.

He was a simple man. Never had to be recognized for things he did behind the scenes.

He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on December 23, 1953, to Ernest and Ida Ingram.  He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1972. On April 9th, 1983, he married Patricia (Patty) Hungerford Ingram, he and Patty were able to spend the best years of their lives together, 38 to be exact. No one else could do it Patty we commend you for your unconditional love and support to him, he was a character. At the time of his marriage, he gained a great father-in-law and mother-in-law as well, which he was very fond of.

His love of children was vast, especially his daughter Nicole Lynn Strong and his son Christopher C. Ingram. He deeply loved them and took care of them the best he could. Then a whole new love came along known as grandchildren Summer Buchannan, Kayleigh Ingram, Emma Ingram, Landon Buchannan, Mason Ingram and Haven Strong. There is not a time he did not show love and nurturing towards them. Papaw was a hero to them. He loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own, tormenting and joking was his specialty. They all knew where he stood. They will all forever treasure the love, good times and mischievousness he created.

He will be greatly missed by all, his sisters Sandra Kelso and KeTina Kennedy as they will always cherish him as he was the best brother anyone could ask for. So many other friends that have been more like family he loved each of you and you know who you are without a doubt.

We are very proud of him for his accomplishments and pride he took as a business owner. Over the years there are too numerous people to list in his life that he affected one way or the other within his business adventures. Thank you all for the camaraderie, trust and friendships you gave him.

We are not here to celebrate his life that has ended but to celebrate the life he lived. Walter taught us lots of things but one thing he did not teach us was how to go on with out him. So, as we bind together and hold onto one another lets continue with a “Walt” like attitude: Treat people right, work hard, be willing to help others, love your family and friends, get dirty, live, laugh, take chances, gamble and take care of one another. He never gave up……. on anything…….

PS we know this life story is missing a lot of adverbs and adjectives, but Walt didn’t get to write his own story he was busy doing for others!

‘It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.”
