Warren Gordon Rawlings, 90 of Danville IN was a wonderful man that was loved, that will be missed and who will always be cherished by those whose lives he touched. Warren went into the arms of our Lord on Friday January 11, 2019.
Warren’s Story started on December 19, 1928. The oldest son of the Late W. Aldis Rawlings and Nora Warren Rawlings, Warren was born in the home of his parents in Pittsboro, IN. The family moved to a farm south of Lizton where Warren with his sister Wilma (the late Jim) Winnings, Ruth (Jerry) Bondurant, and William “Bill” (Sally) Rawlings Grew up. He attended North Salem and Lizton Schools. And was raised in the Christian Church.
Warren was renowned for his many talents. Warren had his TV repair shop and Volkswagen Service Shop with son Dan. Warren did electrical work out of Local Hall 481 in Indianapolis.
Warren and wife Mildred were also Good Sam RV members and became life members in 1985. Warren was elected Indiana State Chaplain for 13 years. Warren was also the assistant manager at the Baptist Retreat Mission in Texas. After Texas, Warren and Mildred traveled to Florida to continue volunteering and mission work. Warren always leant a hand with electrical needs wherever they went. They would always return home to Indiana in the summers to see family and friends. Together they continued volunteering their services at Turkey Run and Lieber State Parks throughout the summer months.
Upon returning home to stay in Indiana in 2006, Warren became a volunteer at Hendricks Regional Health. Through his time there he made many, many lasting friendships with staff and patients. He always had a smile and a kind word for all, was a very good listener to many and was always willing to offer his shoulder to lean on.
Survivors include sons, Doug (wife Kim) Rawlings, Dan (wife Cheryl) Rawlings, Brad Rawlings and daughter, Linda Kirby, Nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to Warren’s parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Leach Rawlings and a daughter, Sheila Rawlings Elliott.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, where friends and family will gather from 11 am until the time of the Funeral. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery.
