William Rudy Myers

July 1, 1943 — February 7, 2025

Greencastle

William "Rudy" Myers, 81, of Greencastle, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on July 1, 1943, in Lebanon, Indiana, Rudy lived life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and unwavering generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyliss Merritt and Ralph Myers, as well as his cherished grandson, Brian Myers.

Rudy is survived by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Barbara Myers, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years. He was extremely proud of his family and is survived by his children, Bill (Lisa) Myers, Jennifer (Jay) Williams, Kim Lindley, and Steve (Angie) Lindley, as well as five siblings, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

A true jack of all trades, Rudy had an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to own and operate several businesses, including Rudy's 66, the Snakebite Tavern, and a bait shop, among others.

He was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and dive into new ventures, always bringing his signature grit and determination. Rudy had a lifelong passion for cars—whether it was restoring classic automobiles, collecting them, or working on race cars. He spent countless hours in the garage, fine-tuning engines and making sure they ran at peak performance. Rudy also built and owned race cars for both asphalt and dirt tracks, including the famed Studebaker Hawk, which held the track record at IRP for years. Beyond his love for cars, Rudy was also an aviation enthusiast who earned his pilot’s license and collected model airplanes.

He enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing, and was happiest when surrounded by friends, a deck of cards in hand, and a drink nearby. He loved to laugh, have a good time, and create memories with those closest to him. With a heart as big as his personality, Rudy was always willing to help those in need, offering a hand when others were down. A proud patriot, he was a staunch supporter of his country and a loyal Trump fan.

His deep love for animals further reflected his kind and compassionate nature. Rudy’s laid-back presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

Funeral Services in celebration of Rudy's life will be held at 1pm, Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Eric MD Bell Funeral Home, where friends are invited to gather with the family from 11 am until the time of the funeral. He will be laid to rest in the Lizton K of P Cemetery following the funeral service.

Rudy will be deeply missed, but his stories, love, and laughter will remain in our hearts forever.

All are encouraged to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss.
